Research Scientists (Cell therapy)

Job Description

MacrophOx is looking to appoint cell therapy scientists to join the laboratory research team. These individuals would be engaged in preclinical design, development and testing of our therapeutics; developing assays to show the efficacy of our cell therapy products in the context of basic and clinical research work packages. The positions are ideal for highly-motivated persons looking to join a rapidly growing company, who would enjoy the fast-paced, highly varied nature of a scientific start-up company.

Who are we looking for?

  • A D.Phil./ Ph.D. in the biological/ life sciences or equivalent and 3 years industry experience
  • Prior background in cell therapy (such as CAR-T) in an industry position would be highly desirable
  • Experience in performing and designing immunological assays such cell migration, polarisation, proliferation, cytotoxicity using in vitro/ in vivo/ ex vivo experimentation
  • Diligent scientific mindset: detailed experimentation planning, execution and recording
  • Good organisation and the ability to work on multiple project streams in parallel.
  • Ability and enthusiasm to learn new skills and techniques quickly and assimilate new information efficiently
  • Ability to record and present data effectively through written and verbal communication
  • Ability to take ownership of a project and work independently, whilst also working together as part of a larger team.

Advantageous attributes/ skills would include;

  • Research experience in industry in the field of cell therapy, such as CAR-T therapy
  • Exposure to cell manufacture for therapeutic purposes; experience in a QC, GMP/ GLP, QMS environment
  • Experience with using retroviruses or lentiviruses
  • Prior experience with in vivo work
  • Experience in the field of cancer and/or immunology
  • Strong IT skills (including proficiency in Microsoft Office) and data analysis

Research Scientists (Molecular engineering)

Job Description

MacrophOx is looking to appoint molecular scientists to join the laboratory research team. These individuals will be engaged in molecular and cellular engineering of our therapeutics, including assessment of activities and mechanism of action. The positions are ideal for highly-motivated individuals looking to join a rapidly growing company, who would enjoy the fast-paced, highly varied nature of a scientific start-up company.

Who are we looking for?

  • A D.Phil./ Ph.D. in genetics, virology or gene and cell therapy or equivalent and 3 years industry experience
  • Prior background in molecular engineering in an industry position would be highly desirable
  • Experience in complex cloning strategies and working with state of the art methodologies is essential, together with good insights into factors regulating gene expression.
  • Diligent scientific mindset: detailed experimentation planning, execution and recording
  • Good organisation and the ability to work on multiple project streams in parallel.
  • Ability and enthusiasm to learn new skills and techniques quickly and assimilate new information efficiently
  • Ability to record and present data effectively through written and verbal communication
  • Ability to take ownership of a project and work independently, whilst also working together as part of a larger team.

  • Experience in defining promoter structures and other regulatory regions
